Anyone that has ever babysat for their little niece or their baby brother knows how hard it can be to deal with someone that says no just because it is all they know. Little kids know little if anything about self-control so when they see something they want they don't understand why they can't just take it.

Improperly managed anger can be just like that stubborn child. When it consumes you it takes control of what you do, who you are, and what you say without any regard for rational thought; much like a stubborn child. A stubborn child can often be aggressive and irritable; when anger is in control people often feel just like that stubborn child, aggressive and irritable.

Managing your anger can be done in just the same way you deal with a stubborn child. Children often get angry because they don't feel as if anyone is listening to them or understanding them. Take the time out to listen to them and understand them and that stubborn, angry child calms down quickly.

If you don't understand why your angry than it will be difficult to calm down. Taking the time to think about it or talk it with someone not involved and you can often figure out what the trigger point was and deal with it in an appropriate manner.

Sometimes it is best to take an angry, stubborn child off to the side, away from the group, in order to give him/her an opportunity to calm down and get under control. Separating yourself can be a good anger management tool as an adult too. Sometimes if you remain in the same general vicinity as the triggering person/issue you will not be able to calm down. There's a reason why Mom always told you to walk away from a fight; out of sight, out of mind. You don't see the problem and you will forget about being angry.
